Planking is Devil Worship?

While working in the office, I was caught by a post in Facebook which read, “Planking in Latin means worshiping the devil in a parallel position.” This seems to be very alarming and if not researched properly will again spread like hayfire in social media networks.

The post further states.

Flanking or Planking ( resting exercise )
- is an old Eastern Religious practice or demonic exercise that leads to death to many people in the past, they are now beginning to revive this demonic practice and most victim are young people - Dont do that and pls dont be an example of this demonic practice!

please pass. :)”

First of all, Planking is not an exercise but a game. I am not an avid fan of Planking but wrong information should not spread out. The term itself, “Planking” comes from the fact that those doing it are mimicking a wooden plank.

It is defined as a an activity consisting of lying face down in an unusual or incongruous location. The hands must touch the sides of the body and having a photograph of the participant taken and posted on the internet is an integral part of the game. To win the players compete to find the most unusual and original location in which to play.

So who invented it? According to sources, Comedian Tom Green claims to have invented “planking” as early as 1994 while other sources indicates that Gary Clarkson and Christian Langdon claim to have invented planking in 2000.

The lesson here is do research first before posting or passing something on Facebook or other social networking sites.

So do you do planking? Send us your comment about this latest issue on the latest craze.

Facebook Cartoon Profile Picture Campaign.

“Change your facebook profile picture to a cartoon from your childhood … Until Monday (Dec.6) there should be no human faces on Facebook, but an invasion of memories. This is to end violence against children.”

This message hit me this morning and without further question I immediately changed my FB Profile in support of this campaign. (It’s a FUN Campaign i can’t ignore)

The campaign to end violence against children has been a global effort to map out what is being done to stop it.  According to the United Nation, since 2003, many thousands of people have responded to this campaign through various activities, consultations, working groups, and even children and young people have been actively participating at every level.

Violence is found in schools, institutions (such as orphanages and other residential care), on the streets, in the workplace and in prisons. Children experience violence at home, within their family and from other children. A small proportion of violence against children leads to death, but most often the violence does not even leave visible marks. Yet it is one of the most serious problems affecting children today.

The World Health Organization (WHO) estimates that 40 million children below the age of 15 suffer from abuse and neglect, and require health and social care.

And through this humble campaign, through this social network, let’s NOW show the world and do our part to protect our children whom we do believe are our FUTURE.

Stop hurting our children. Stop violence.

some of my facebook friends

Actually, It’s nice to see Majority if my Facebook friends, changing their profile pictures non-stop. some are even changing their pick etc. IT’S FUN! not only for the thought of campaign but it makes us bring back the very good old days of our childhood memories. While thinking, you think of different cartoons you’ve encountered during your childhood days. Truly,  INNOCENCE is something we all have during those times. We just play, watch, eat & LAUGH a lot.

On a very special note, I AM VERY THANKFUL THAT I GREW UP & HAVE MY CHILDHOOD IN AN ENVIRONMENT WHERE SOCIAL MEDIA, INTERNET & HI-TECH GADGETS ARE NOT YET ALIVE TO INVADE OUR MINDS. Just playing outside, buying “tex”, “pogs”, going home hurriedly to catch “Ghost Fighter” or “Fushigi Yuugi” or even “Flame of Recca” and “Zenki”. then every weekend you chill home at night to catch & laugh with “Sailor Moon” and that cartoon with “super takure” hahaha!

Such a Lovely Thing and Lovely Memories to look back! anywho, HOPE THAT MORE PEOPLE IN FACEBOOK WOULD WILLINGLY SUPPORT THIS CAMPAIGN. It’s Fun though!
